The Story

Sonarupa means gold and silver — sona and rupa — and describes zari work that runs both metals through the same cloth. It is harder to weave than either alone: the two tones have to balance or one swallows the other. Done properly, the drape shifts between warm and cool as the light moves. On crepe's fluid ground it never looks heavy.
