The Story

Arashi is the Japanese pole-wrapping method of shibori — cloth wound around a pole, compressed and dyed, so the resist marks fall as diagonal storm-lines. Arashi means storm. Over an organza ground already carrying gold zari, the dye gives movement the weave alone cannot. An unusual pairing: Japanese resist dyeing on an Indian zari weave.
